More Strategies to Avoid Overeating...

6. Switch to dark chocolate. If chocolate is your de-stressing treat, switch from milk chocolate to cocoa-rich dark versions (look for those with 70 per cent or more cocoa solids). You'll find you need to eat less to feel the positive effects. Your best choice is an IsaDelight chocolate which suppresses appetite, increases mental focus and improves mood.
7. Practice visualization. When you find yourself reaching for a sugary treat, imagine your arteries furring up, your skin becoming more sallow and fleshy, your brain finding it harder to make connections. Then picture a shower of tropical rain pounding down on your scalp, washing away these pictures. Feel clean and vibrant inside and out.
8. Use affirmations. Repeating motivational words or phrases helps reset your default. Keep going even if it makes you feel silly. Find words that instill self-confidence and a sense of purpose, such as, “I am in control of what I eat.” “I love food that's good for my body”. Repeat it several times when you wake up and go to sleep.
9. Focus on your breath. Do a quick meditation exercise when willpower wanes. Close your eyes and focus your thoughts on your breath as it moves in and out. When your breathing pattern feels calmer, imagine exhaling toxins and negative thoughts with every out-breath. On each in-breath imagine your body being energized by cleansing oxygen that brings with it a new lease on life.
10. Aromatherapy to avoid dessert. Keep a bottle of grapefruit essential oil with you. Place two drops on a handkerchief. Inhale when you need help to resist dessert or candy.

Plan in Advance and Resist Temptation

Do you tend to overeat because of stress?

Worried about what you'll be eating in the next few weeks and the impact it'll have on your waistline?

Christmas and other holiday parties can present eating temptations that seem irresistible. Maybe you've got difficult relatives descending on you. Stress eating is a coping choice many people make unconsciously, and bitterly regret later.

With a little fore-thought and decision-making, you can avoid making poor eating choices this holiday season and continue to stay in control of what you choose to soothe those hunger pangs. A little pre-planning before the tension hits will help you feel stronger and make healthy choices.

When you starve yourself for hours, cravings call. And you will answer. Choose one or more of the proven strategies below for sticking with healthy eating, even when stressed.

1. Eat regularly—approximately every 3 hours. This allows you to eat smaller meals without becoming hungry. Your blood sugar can fall too low after just 4 hours of not eating. Fast-rising blood sugar triggers your pancreas to release a flood of insulin, a hormone that not only lowers blood sugar but also signals your body to store fat. And in about half of us, insulin tends to "overshoot," which sends blood sugar crashing. This reinforces the binge, because it makes you crave sugar and starch again.
2. Consider taking chromium supplements (especially the GTF varieties, and especially in combination with L-Glutamine). These supplements have a subtle effect that can make a big difference in keeping blood sugar from spiking and reducing cravings. Consult your doctor before taking ANY nutritional supplements!
3. Have protein and fat at every meal. (Meat, cheese, nuts, or eggs contain both.) This slows the digestion of carbohydrates, which helps prevent blood sugar spikes.
4. Go whole grain. Make sure the bread, pasta, or rice that you eat is 100 percent whole grain. The fiber it contains reduces the effect on your blood sugar.
5. Go for healthy pick-me-ups. Enjoy nutritious and health-enriching snacks such as a heritage variety of apple (some taste like champagne), a handful of collagen-rich cherries, fresh or dried figs loaded with minerals including calcium, or an antioxidant red guava.

Focus on Your Health and Wellness Goals and Notice the Benefits

Cleansing Secret #24 Make your health your first priority
If one of your goals is to lose weight during your cleanse, be patient. You cannot safely force your body into losing weight faster than it can. The weight will come off at the rate it's supposed to - for you.

Our bodies create extra fat and hold onto water to protect our internal organs from toxins.

During your 30-day cleanse, focus on becoming healthy and whole. Keep your health and wellness goals in front of you and stick with the program. No product can help you while it's sitting on the shelf or if you're not taking it as directed, or consistently every day.

You didn't accumulate those toxins in your body in one month; you won't release them all in one month either. But you will notice a difference in how you feel.

People who complete an Isagenix 30-day program may experience:
• More energy, stamina, endurance and strength
• More physical and emotional strength
• Better sleep
• A feeling of lightness – physically and emotionally
• Released pounds and/or inches
• Improved digestion – no more heartburn, diarrhea, constipation
• Improved ability to handle stress
• Improved mental clarity
• Improved determination to succeed
• A more positive attitude
• Improved moods
• Increased sexual desire
• Reduced cravings
• Decreased desire for sugars, carbs, caffeine and nicotine
• An improvement in food choices: healthier snack and meal choices
• Increased feelings of happiness
• More harmonious relationships
• Greater feelings of peace and less anxiety

Remember, you're not alone during your cleanse. Call or e-mail your healthy lifestyle coach if you have questions or concerns. If you're ready to get started, contact me today and I'll personally coach you through your first 30-day Isagenix cleanse: 416-266-0084

Keep the Weight Off - Use Isagenix Daily!

Cleansing Secret #23 Five Extra Pounds Matter!
Carrying an extra 5 lbs of body weight puts a significant drag on your heart!
Those extra 5 lbs cause your heart to have to pump your blood the distance between earth and the moon every six months!

One of the side-benefits of a top-quality cleanse is releasing unnecessary fat. Our bodies put a layer of fat and water around harmful substances to protect our internal organs. The fat and toxins are safely and quickly released by total body cleansing. This means when we finish a deep cleanse, our bodies will have fewer toxins with no rebound effect like after a fad diet - when the fat comes back quickly!

Cleansing is a healthy lifestyle choice - like regular exercise. You need to cleanse regularly too! If you exercised every day for a month, then stood up and said 'That's it! I'm done!' What do you think would happen to your newly toned and invigorated body?

That's right! You've got to keep it up. It's the same with nutritional cleansing. The good news is cleansing is easy, delicious and gentle - with Isagenix.

A healthy colon is a start, but it's not enough

Cleansing Secret #22 A Healthy Colon
Did you know that a healthy colon requires a high fiber diet and 8 to 12 glasses of water every day? Inadequate amounts of fiber and water cause food to remain in the colon for excessive amounts of time causing the release of toxins and putrefaction. A low fiber diet may lead to diverticulitis, intestinal polyps, hemorrhoids, anal fissures and other intestinal disorders.

Foods high in dietary fiber include: whole grain cereals and flours, brown rice, agar agar, most fresh fruit, dried prunes, nuts, seeds (especially flaxseeds), beans, lentils and fresh raw vegetables. It's wise to eat several of these foods daily.

Want to take charge of your health and wellness? Nutritional cleansing is your best next step.

Cleanse the toxins and body wastes holding on inside your body. Isagenix' total body cleanse is an unique system that gently removes toxins, adds nutrition and helps your body release unnecessary fat and water.

In 30-days you'll be on your way to a healthier, more energetic life. You'll...
* be better able to handle stress,
* feel and look younger
* release unwanted pounds and inches
* experience greater mental clarity and focus
* sleep better
And many other benefits.

Get started today so you don't pack on the pounds this holiday season. I can show you a proven method for using two products: IsaLean Shakes and Cleanse For Life juice, to easily 'Cleanse and Shake' your way to better health and wellness. When you're ready, call 416-266-0084.

Herbs to Cleanse and Relax

Cleansing Secret #21 Homegrown Herbal Teas
Consider growing your own organic tea herbs in your garden or in a pot on a sunny windowsill. Hot herbal tea is perfect on cold winter days or cleanse days.
• Lemonbalm, Peppermint, Spearmint, Calendula, Catmint, Lavender, Hyssop and Marjoram, are easy to grow.
• Sage and Rosemary grow well together because they need the same amount of sun, well drained soil and not much water.
• Use herbs fresh all summer long, then move herbs such as Rosemary, Sage, and Marjoram inside for the winter.
• To make one cup herbal infusion (tea) use one tablespoon fresh herbs – flowers and leaves – or one teaspoon dried herb. Steep 5 to 10 minutes.
• To dry extra herbs for use in the winter, simply hang herbs by their stems or lay in single layers on a clean screen. Place in a dark, dry place until leaves and stems are crisp and crunchy dry. Store in paper bags and crumble just before use to retain essential oils and color.

Smooth away your stress and help your body cleanse

Cleansing Secret #20 Use Massage and Essential Oils to Turn Your Cleanse into a Spa Experience!
A full-body massage is a fantastic cleanse-enhancing experience and should leave you feeling very mellow and relaxed!

Look for a Swedish massage or lymphatic drainage massage, both of which increase circulation and lymph flow, which promotes detoxification.

As the tissues are massaged, toxins are pushed out of the space between cells into the lymphatic system, which transports them to be processed by the liver and moved out of the body. As if that weren’t enough, massage also helps relieve tension, stress and pain, releases lactic acid and endorphins (feel good hormones) and improves flexibility.

Do It At Home – An Aromatherapy Massage
If you can’t find a massage professional who uses aromatherapy in their treatments, give yourself a treat or ask your spouse or friend to help you out!

Essential oils are naturally present in certain leaves, flowers, bark, stems, twigs, fruit and roots, and are extracted commercially by steam distillation.
These oils provide many healing and balancing benefits for body, mind and spirit, and their therapeutic use is the art and science of aromatherapy. Essential oils are readily absorbed through the skin and when inhaled, they affect the brain and emotions.

Essential oils such as pink grapefruit and birch encourage lymph drainage when diluted in carrier oil such as sweet almond oil or unscented lotion, and smoothed on your body. Other essential oils that help detoxification and relieve lymph congestion are orange, geranium, fennel, juniper, marjoram, lavender, cypress and rose oil.

Choose aromatherapy oils based on the scent you like – You can use a single oil or up to four oils in a blend. Make sure that you dilute no more than 10 drops essential oil in one tablespoon (15 ml) carrier oil.

Blend well and massage firmly, but gently into feet, legs, arms and torso. The scent should last for several hours!

For best effect, buy only the best quality essential oils. Protect the bottle from light and heat. Keep tightly closed.

General Cautions: Do not take internally or use undiluted on skin except as indicated! Do not use on children under 3 years. Use half as many drops on children and the elderly. Use only as indicated. Do not use during pregnancy.

Detox and Absorb Nutrients Efficiently

Cleansing Secret #17 Deliberate deep breathing
Help your lungs detox while you’re doing a full-body cleanse!
Feel the calming, relaxing, anxiety-releasing effects of nourishing your body with more oxygen.
Notice the rejuvenating effects from simple alternate-nostril breathing one or more times a day…
1. Slowly inhale and exhale;
2. Block left nostril with ring and baby finger;
3. Inhale with the right nostril to a count of 4; block right nostril with thumb;
4. Hold your breath for a count of 16 (or as long as you can!);
5. Exhale from left nostril to a count of 8;
6. Inhale to a count of 4; block left nostril with ring and baby finger;
7. Hold your breath for a count of 16 (or as long as you can!);
8. Exhale through right nostril to a count of 8.
9. Repeat 4 times each side.

Cleansing Secret #18 Spread Out Your Meal Replacement Shakes

If you find a full whey protein shake is too much to drink all at once, enjoy a half shake at breakfast and make another half at mid-morning. Do the same between noon and mid-afternoon or mid-afternoon and evening, depending on which meal you replace with your second shake. You might find your hunger is satisfied better with this routine!

Cleansing Secret #19 Protein Helps Repair Muscle Tears
You'll help your body recover more quickly after exercise if you immediately follow a workout with a high quality whey protein shake!

Nourish Your Body With Herbal Tea!

Cleansing Secret #15 Did you know?
The human body requires 90 nutrients including essential fatty acids, amino acids, 60 minerals and 16 vitamins, to make healthy cells? Minerals are so important that if we don’t get the minerals we need, our bodies can’t absorb vitamins effectively!

Cleansing Secret #16 Herbal Teas
Many herbs make a gentle healing drink – tisane or tea - that you can enjoy every day. Herbs contain important vitamins and minerals that can enhance your nutrition and cleansing experience.
• For teas that heal gently, or are mild enough to be enjoyed just for the taste…
o Marjoram soothes stomach cramps.

o Sage stimulates digestion, relieves flatulence, a well-known cold and flu fighter. Sage can help prevent and resolve night sweats and hot flashes.

o Hyssop is used to promote perspiration to reduce fever and eliminate toxins through the skin. Hyssop also acts as a carminative and digestive aid, relieving flatulence and relaxing the digestive system. This versatile herb is also a nervine, which calms anxiety.

o Peppermint is used a gentle morning stimulant hot drink that’s rich in iron.

o Lavender has calming effects that helps relieve stress, fatigue, headache and insomnia. Drinking a cup of Lavender tea before going to bed is known to promote restful sleep. This herb blends well with mint leaves.

o Lemonbalm is a sunshine- loving perennial herb that’s when made into tea will calm the digestive tract, ease insomnia, relieve fever, fight viral illness, ease headaches and menstrual cramps. It’s gentle enough to treat nervous tummy upsets in children. It is an excellent herb to relieve gas and spasms in the digestive tract. Shred 1 tbsp fresh leaves or measure 1 teaspoon dried herbs and add to teapot. Pour 8 ounces boiling water over herbs. Let steep 10 minutes. Strain and enjoy!

• To make medicinal herbal tea:
Place 3 Tbsp dried, or twice as much fresh herbs in a warm glass or ceramic container. Bring 2.5 cups of fresh, non-chlorinated water to the boiling point, and add it to the herbs. Cover and infuse the tea for 15 to 20 minutes. Strain and drink warm. The prepared tea will store for about two days if kept in a sealed glass container in the refrigerator.
• Note: You can buy loose herbs at some natural food stores that are far less expensive that the packaged herbs sold in boxes of 10 or 20 tea bags!! Select a tea infuser of your choice, available at kitchen supply stores.

Essential Fruit & Veggie Secrets

Cleansing Secret #13 Fruit and Veggie Secrets
• For optimal nutrition, it’s best to use up fresh fruit and vegetables within two to three days.
• Wash fruit and vegetables thoroughly, but only for a short time in order to retain nutrients.
• For the same reason, cut up vegetables only a short time before using them. As soon as the surface of shredded or cut fruit and vegetables comes into contact with warmth and oxygen, important vital substances are lost.
• Cook vegetables for as short a time as possible to preserve nutrients and taste.
• Eat more raw vegetables! Their enzymes help you digest and absorb nutrients that are lost in cooking.
• To enhance the flavor of raw foods, use homemade savory sauces such as the recipe below.

Cleansing Secret #14 Basic Savory Sauce
3 onions - peeled and chopped
3 fresh tomatoes - sliced or diced
3 medium size Portobello mushrooms - pureed with a little water
2 cups of water
2 tablespoons of oil - corn or peanut
sea salt and red chilies flakes to taste
fresh parsley - finely chopped
Sauté onions until golden. Add tomatoes and continue sautéing for the next minute or two. Add pureed mushrooms and water and turn the heat to low. Add some salt, cover and simmer for another 2 minutes. Turn the heat off and add chili flakes and parsley. Serve over potatoes, rice or bite-sized lightly steamed or fresh raw veggies to add extra flavor.

Make Informed Choices - Organic? or Conventionally Grown?

Cleansing Secret #12 Buy Organically Grown - Most of the Time!
Buy organically grown produce, especially when you’re on your cleanse. Your cleanse is helping your body remove toxins, so don’t add more with pesticide residue that remains on and in commercially grown produce.

Doesn’t washing or peeling remove all the pesticides? Nope. Both help, but no one can say that pesticides, sprayed on fruit and veggies periodically while they grow, can be removed completely. You can reduce the risk to your health and that of your family when you make informed choices.

The Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit organization that advocates for policies that protect global and individual health, produces the Shoppers' Guide to Pesticides in Produce. The guide is based on the results of nearly 87,000 pesticide tests.

The following are listed in descending order of pesticide concentration and toxicity…worst to best, so make sure to buy these fruits and veggies organically grown:

1. Peach
2. Apple
3. Bell Pepper
4. Celery
5. Nectarine
6. Strawberries
7. Cherries
8. Kale
9. Lettuce
10. Grapes (Imported)
11. Carrot
12. Pear

Of the 43 different fruit and vegetable categories in the Guide to Pesticides, the following fifteen foods had the lowest pesticide load when conventionally grown. They are the safest conventionally grown crops to consume:
1. Onion
2. Avocado
3. Sweet Corn
4. Pineapple
5. Mango
6. Asparagus
7. Sweet Peas
8. Kiwi
9. Cabbage
10. Eggplant
11. Papaya
12. Watermelon
13. Broccoli
14. Tomato
15. Sweet Potato

Enhance your cleanse and feel great with ‘healthy fats’…

Cleansing Secret #11 Healthy Fats

Did you know that margarine and foods made with hydrogenated fats or trans fats are toxic?

These unnatural ‘foods’ make your body’s detox organs sluggish and require huge amounts of energy for digestion. They also lead to weight gain and many are known neurotoxins – that is, they attack the brain and nervous system, which may result in pain and inflammation.

Do you prefer the spreadable texture of margarine? Make a batch of ‘Better Butter’ instead! Simply use electric beaters to combine 1/4 cup cold pressed Extra Virgin olive oil with 1/4 cup room temperature butter until smooth. Use up to 3 tsp. daily, if required to flavor vegetables. Better Butter is soft like margarine and liquifies at room temperature, so keep refrigerated.

Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs)
EFAs are important for maintaining the membranes of all cells; for making prostaglandins which regulate many body processes including inflammation and blood clotting. Another requirement for fat in the diet is to enable the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K to be absorbed from food; and for regulating body cholesterol metabolism.

Food sources include vegetables, fruits, nuts, grains, seeds. Most people do not get enough EFAs – supplement daily with high quality Omega 3-6-9 oil – 15 ml oil for every 50 lbs body weight.

Cleansing Secret #10 It’s ‘Be Kind to Me’ Month!

Are you being kind to yourself?

Go ahead – indulge with extra pampering during your cleanse. Take especially good care of your body. This can be very enjoyable by taking a weekly aromatic detox bath, and dry-brushing before your daily shower.

Taking care of your body is a way of loving yourself. And we all need more self love!

o Dry Brush Your Body

Boost your immune system, help eliminate cellulite, remove dead skin cells and make your skin soft.

You’ll need a natural bristle brush available at most pharmacies. Make sure your body and brush are dry.

Always stroke gently, but firmly two or three times in each area – from feet to neck – always in the direction of your heart. Avoid private areas and damaged skin.
This process should take 5-7 minutes.

o Pamper Yourself with An Aromatherapy Detox Bath

A Detox Bath helps your body release toxins through the skin and the aromatherapy oil soothes your nerves and eases headaches and stress.

The Recipe
Into 1 tbsp. milk or vodka stir 10 drops essential oil of your choice: Lavender, Juniper berry, Geranium, Black pepper, Cypress. Add liquid to 1½ cup Epsoms Salts and stir the mixture into comfortably warm bathwater.

Step in and relax for at least 20 minutes.

Drink a large glass of water when you get out; stay warm and go to bed!

Cleansing Secret #9 Snacks
A cleanse is not a fast! Be kind to yourself and choose a cleanse that still allows you to eat something to help you feel energized and satisfied, not faint and exhausted.

In order to help our bodies detoxify, we need to be in a mild state of ketosis which occurs when our bodies are forced to use stored fat for energy, such as on a cleanse day.

However, being without the quick energy that's available from carbohydrates can cause wild blood sugar fluctuations which can deplete your energy, cause your body to gain weight or depress your immune system.

Isagenix has two products that solve this problem, satisfy hunger and help make cleanse days easy!

The Isagenix 30-Day Cleansing Program includes a delicious chocolate or vanilla wafer snack you can enjoy up to six times on a cleanse day. ‘Snacks’ add a small amount of carbohydrates, stimulate the colon slightly, and stabilize blood sugar.

Isagenix has developed nutritional supplements called IsaDelight that taste exactly like high quality Belgian dark chocolates. They have the same amount of sugar as 1/8th of an apple. They’re not candy, but are healthy chocolates that naturally balance ‘feel good’ chemicals in the brain to ...
• Curb hunger
• Put you into a good mood,
• Give you more energy, greater focus
• Promote calm
• Make it easier and fun to lose weight!!!

Set Yourself Up for Success!

Here are a few more cleansing secrets to enhance your cleanse and make you feel GREAT!
Cleansing Secret #6 How to Set Yourself Up for Success!
Have you gotten rid of all the bad snack food in your house (chips, crackers, cookies, chocolate, candy, wine, beer, high sugar and fat foods)? This is a big essential step that will help you achieve success! Remember, ‘Decide, then follow through.’
Cleansing Secret #7 Have you reached a weight-loss plateau?
If you are unable to lose weight after steadily watching the scales dip, if you are weight-training to build muscle or have a slow functioning thyroid, it will help to order a container of Isagenix’ IsaPro, top grade, unflavored whey protein, and add it to your shake.
Cleansing Secret #8 Exercise makes things move!
Are you staying active every day? Go for a daily 20 to 30-minute walk to bond with one of your kids, your spouse, your dog, or go by yourself for special alone time.
Exercise is the only way to keep all your body systems in top condition. That includes helping your bowels move two or three times daily and ultimately providing you with maximum benefits from your cleanse.
Combining cleansing and exercise provides better results than either does on its own.
Don’t do a strenuous work out on cleanse days – walk instead!

Use Food and Herbs to Help You Detoxify

Last time I wrote about the importance of drinking enough water to help your body detoxify. Today’s two cleansing tips are about how to use the right foods and herbs to assist the detoxification process.
Cleansing Secret #4 An Easy Cleanse-Right Dinner
Prepare one to two medium-sized bowls of lightly-steamed vegetables served over one cup of brown, or wild and brown rice. Choose a variety of the freshest veggies you can find, including roots, stems and greens.
Autumn: Broccoli, cabbage, potato, celery, spinach. Cauliflower, onion, carrots, chard, sugar peas.
Winter: Broccoli, cabbage, potato, kale, spinach, chard. butternut squash, onion, cauliflower, collard greens, Jerusalem artichoke.
Spring: Choose spring vegetables such as asparagus, baby carrots, spring garlic, red chard, beets, leeks, broccoli; wild greens such as mustard, sorrel or collard with a steamed artichoke.
Summer: Zucchini, new potatoes, green beans, carrots, onion. Beets and beet greens, yellow squash, bell pepper, eggplant.

Cleansing Secret #5 Herbs and Salt
To season vegetables, add a bit of sea salt, vegetable salt, or a good garlic salt without additives, cayenne for warmth, or a sprinkling of your choice of dried or fresh herbs such as thyme, sage, oregano, basil, marjoram, chives, or parsley.
• Instead of regular table salt, use unpurified sea salt or Himalayan sea salt because it contains many important trace minerals.
• Fresh herbs contain many vitamins and minerals. When used to season food, you will need less salt, which is easier on your blood pressure!

For practical information about using herbs to help you heal, see the new e-book I co-wrote at www.totalwellnessmatters.com.

Bon appétit!

Help Your Body Detoxify!

Cleansing Secret #1 Have a Great Morning!
Morning is the body's natural cleansing time. Start every day with two glasses of water (filtered or spring), one glass with half a lemon squeezed into it. This helps...
- Hydrate your body
- Alkalize your body due to the high mineral content in lemon juice (potassium, calcium, magnesium and trace minerals) Lemon juice is acidic in your mouth, but has an alkalizing effect in your body.
- make you feel energized
- stimulate digestion
- increase saliva flow
- keep your bowel function regular
- gently cleanse your liver to release congestion and toxins after your overnight fast
Lemon juice helps to lessen the water's surface tension, which more effectively re-hydrates your cells. At the same time it increases your oxygen absorption since most people are deprived of adequate oxygen at the cellular level.

Cleansing Secret #2 Keep on drinkin' - Water that is!
Drink water continuously all day, or take 2-3 glasses of purified water 30 to 60 minutes before each meal and early in the evening to help flush toxins and keep your brain power sharp!

Cleansing Secret #3 - Have a good night!
Choose not to eat anything after dinner as your body prepares for rest and renewal overnight. Drink only water and herbal teas such as peppermint, chamomile, pau d'arco or nighttime blends. These teas are available at natural food stores - loose or in bags.

Cleansing Secrets: Feel Your Best and Live Your Best Life

Are you one of the growing number of people who’ve adopted internal cleansing as a regular lifestyle choice? If you have, congratulate yourself for giving your body a helping hand to protect your good health and vitality!

The Benefits of Cleansing
After a cleanse, people typically feel greater energy and stamina, better moods and ability to handle stress, mental clarity, feelings of happiness, a more positive outlook and weight loss! Hey, it’s not enough to live long, we all want to feel well and enjoy life, don’t we?

How Will Detoxification Help Me?
Detoxification removes unnatural toxins locked inside our bodies - chemicals from the environment, our food, water and optional substances such as alcohol and drugs. A cleanse helps our overworked cleansing organs and systems remove impurities, and waste produced as the body metabolizes food and repairs itself. A cleanse prepares our bodies for the change in food that comes with the change in the weather.

My son came home today.

He's now a 19-year old man who credits his time at Katimavik with helping him grow up!

That's huge.

He completed the nine-month Katimavik program, despite an emergency appendectomy six weeks before the end of it! I flew out to help him recover his strength for a few days, but he chose to stay behind when I went home. I'm so proud that he 'stuck it out' and delivered on his commitment. As everyone does every day, he faced difficulties and hurdles during that time spent living in three different Canadian communities, but he managed to turn most of them into learning opportunities.

Wow! What a man!

Jet Lag Remedies - Did They Work?

Yes! I feel better. I'm sleeping and eating at appropriate times. I feel like the 'brain fog' has lifted.

The Epsom Salts bath was great. I added Smoky Quartz and Hematite crystals to the foot of the bathtub (in the water). I also wore a Smoky Quartz pendant for the past two days. Both are grounding and help relieve stress. I took the homeopathic remedy Cocculus night and day and I think that helped immediately. I haven't felt the need to take a nap. I think I'm back to normal! Yay!

I will definitely take Cocculus and my crystals with me on my next trip to California.

Persistent jet lag? Try this natural healing strategy

It's been nine days since I returned from a week in Los Angeles to take a personal development course and I'm still experiencing jet lag!!

Quite distressing to find myself sleeping, waking and eating three hours behind everyone else here in the Eastern Time Zone!

It's quite unusual for jet lag to last this long, but I noticed it happened each time I've returned from the West coast. I am particularly motivated to find the jet lag solution for me because I have three other trips planned to California this year!!

What to do?!?!

My research has led me to develop this plan for the next few days. I'll keep you posted as to how well it works.

· Take an Epsom salts bath before bed to ground my electromagnetic system
· Take a dose of the homeopathic remedy Cocculus indicus before bed, which is effective for people who say they are "too tired to sleep". They may feel weak, dizzy, irritable, and have trouble concentrating (this seems to describe my symptoms!)
· Sleep no longer than one hour past my normal wake time of 7 AM
· If I need one, limit naps to no more than an hour
· Go for a morning walk. Since my jet lag problem happened only when I traveled east, experts advise going outside in the morning.
· Tomorrow is my yoga class. It will help get my body pumped up, help alertness, and get me out in the sunlight. .A study at the University of Toronto also suggests that exercise will actually reduce the number of days jet lag affects you.
· Put a drop or two of Rosemary essential oil on a cotton ball and inhale as needed during the day to assist alertness and concentration.
